New website for the Prague Linguistic Circle

Welcome to the new pages of PLK. After years of stagnation on http://www.bohemica.com/plk, it is time for the Circle's pages to receive a makeover (appropriate, I hope, to celebrate its 80th birthday). The most obvious change is the URL, which is dual: http://www.praguelinguistics.org and http://www.cercledeprague.org (both links lead hear). The pages will now be at least partially multilingual, depending on the availability of volunteer translators.

Another innovation are the many dynamic features such as the Forums or the possiblity to comment on selected content such as this announcement.

A further change is the expansion of the editorial team. Many more people will now be able to contribute to the upkeep of the site. All information from the old web was transferred with the exception of some event announcements which will eventually find their way into a database of the Circle's events. They can be found on http://www.praguelinguistics.org/oldplk .

These are some of the future plans for the Circle's site:

  • Lst of members and their research profiles
  • Profiles of significant members from the Circle's history
  • An eJournal: Travaux Linguistiques Electroniques
  • The Circle's bibliography
  • Full texts of publications for which the Circle owns the copyright
  • Photogallery
  • Audio recordings of the Circle's events

There are more possibilities for expansion. Please do not hesitate to add comments below and join a discussion about the future of this website.
